How to Sneak More Greens Into Your Diet

April 12, 2016

One healthy goal I made for myself over a year ago was to eat something green every day. There are a lot of days that this is really easy for me, and lately, I have gotten off of my health kick and have not been eating as well. I am trying to reevaluate why I want to be healthy in the first place and that #1 reason is for my ids. I’ve said it many times before, but I want to be healthy so I can live a long and active life! I want to be able to run around with my kids AND grandkids one day!

Green Smoothie at Smoothie King

Last week I mentioned that I really wanted to start working out every day, again. I’ve only been doing mild workouts about 3 to 4 times a week, and while that is not terrible, I really want to get after it. I feel better when I am moving every day and fitness has always been a big part of my life. I enjoy staying active and so I need to make that a priority again. I’m happy to say that I have done much better this last week and have actually worked out every day!

Green Smoothie

A few ways I like to sneak more greens in my diet is to add lettuce to my sandwiches, opt for a salad at lunch, cook green beans or turnips when it is fitting with dinner, or my personal favorite, drink a green smoothie. I love smoothies! They are so delicious that my brain thinks it is eating dessert, but my body is getting tons of nutrients. My latest jam has been the Apple Kiwi Kale Smoothie from Smoothie King! I literally can’t get enough of these meal replacement smoothies. They are so filling and are delicious! Bonus points? My son loves them, too, so this sneaky momma is giving him some delicious fruits and veggies, too! Shh, don’t tell!

Smoothie King has a new Veggie Avocado Pineapple smoothie that I am also dying to try! I love avocado and have been very curious about this new way to eat it! Smoothie King also offers a Berry Carrot Dream Smoothie and Carrot Kale Dream Smoothie! I just can’t quit drinking my Apple Kiwi Kale, but maybe one day I will brave the unknown and try another green smoothie!

This sounds so yummy. I love avocados and I love pineapples so I know I would enjoy this smoothie. We don’t have a Smoothie King in our area but I am thinking I can find a smoothie recipe or attempt to make one with avocados and pineapples in it.

I try to make a green smoothie at least 2-3 times a week. I used to be more but my blender broke and I got out of the habit. I have also started lightly grilling spinach and kale when I have eggs and yes the side salad replacement to fries is a huge one! Good look on your health goals, I’m right there with you.

Definitely have never heard of Smoothie King before! Growing up I was forced to constantly eat spinach or broccoli as my dad is an ag farmer, and as an adult there are some veggies I cannot stomach even if it’s in a smoothie!

I usually manage to get greens in at least once a day. I really enjoy avocado in my smoothies, it makes the so rich and creamy.

The apple kiwi kale smoothie sounds delicious. I have been trying to eat better as well. I may try making green smoothies at home soon. Just need a decent blender. As for food I love spinach salads or sauteing broccoli, zucchini, green beans, or green bell peppers.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE green smoothies. I usually make me some freezer packs so I can just take one out when I’m in the mood for a smoothie. Sadly we don’t have a smoothie king nearby.

I drink a smoothie every single day. It’s become a habit. There isn’t a Smoothie King by me but hopefully they will be growing all over so we can all enjoy it. For now I’ll just have mine at home. Thanks for sharing!

I definitely need to add more greens to my diet! I started adding greens to my smoothies and find that it is such an easy way to get some more nutrients – although it has taken some time to get used to it!
